“There was a certain sense of pride in the industry, the confidence that everyone felt,” said Laura Smith, the founder of designer eyewear store Designer Handbags, who also runs the brand and online marketplace Eyegasm.

“People were like, ‘Oh, we have to buy these for our children,’ ” she said.
“I’m like, no, they’re going to buy them for their friends, their parents, their children.”
The trend has also caught on in China.
China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced plans to create a new brand called “The Beautiful Eye,” to offer innovative eyewashes that are “made from high-quality materials, eco-friendly and made from natural ingredients.”
The ministry says it will create a partnership with companies that make eyewashing products.
But even in the U.S., the trend has spread.
In May, a fashion blogger named Jennifer Lopez posted a post on her Instagram account in which she explained that she bought eye makeup from a beauty supply store.
“They were so good, I had to buy everything,” she wrote.
“You can buy your eyeshadow in China, or you can buy them from this place, where they make the best eye makeup.
And the people at the counter are so happy.”
And she has seen people in the cosmetics aisle of her local drugstore, who had never shopped there before, become obsessed with the brand.
She even saw some people who had not shopped at her local cosmetics store try the brand, before buying it.
“It made me feel a little bit better,” Lopez wrote.
“When you are paying $3,000 for a bottle of eyeshadows, and you’re paying $10 for a tube of mascara, and then you are spending $200 for a set of eyeliner, then you’re not happy with the price, you’re definitely not happy.” “

For some Filipinas, the obsession with the eye makeup has led to the emergence of a whole new market for the products.
For instance, in 2016, a local beauty store called the Ligaya, named after a town in the central Philippines, opened in the capital, Manila.
